Description

The Battle of the Bulge, also known as the ‘Ardennes Offensive’ was the last major German offensive on the Western Front. Launched in the early morning of December 16, 1944 the Germans achieved total surprise along an 80 mile stretch of the Allied lines running through Belgium and Luxembourg.
At first some of the American units fell back in disarray, surprised by the size and ferocity of the attack. Others however held bravely on and managed to delay and divert some of the German advances. Among the fighting vehicles deployed to repulse the assault was one of the US Army’s latest and best ‘Tank Destroyers’…

The M36 ‘Jackson’ was the best American ‘tank destroyer’ of WW2. It combined the already well-proven and reliable chassis of the M4 Sherman and combined it with sloped armor and a massive new turret mounting a powerful 90mm main gun.
First conceived in 1943, the ‘Jackson’ began arriving in Europe in October 1944 where it mostly replaced the older M10 Tank Destroyer. Postwar the M36 saw extensive combat in the Korean conflict as well as serving with the armies of France, Italy, Yugoslavia, South Korea and many others.
This K&C M36 ‘Jackson’ comes ‘snow-camouflaged’ and with a vehicle commander figure.
