Florida Highwayman Painting by Sam Newton\African-American Artists

SKU: Newton FL painting Category:

The Florida Highwaymen were a talented group of African-American artists who sold their paintings along the highways and byways of Florida in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Their supplies came from bits and pieces of scrap from construction sites and whatever paint and boards that might be recoverable.

This painting does have a new frame, not the original wood.

Their popularity has grown as has the state.

Please Google them and you will discover a world that captures the natural beauty and wonders Florida has to offer.

Or as it used to!
