Description

Automedon was a Myrmidon Captain, and one of Achilles’s chief attendants. He was a witness at the meeting between Priam and Achilles to ransom Hector’s body. Became Achilles’s chariot driver and body servant after the death of Patroclus, who died in his arms.
He was known as reliable and among the most noble of the Myrmidons.

The Myrmidons were an ancient Thessalian Greek tribe. In Homer’s Iliad, the Myrmidons are the soldiers commanded by Achilles, and were known for wearing black armour.
